Hirely: a talent marketplace for hiring people again

The problem
What needed solving
Hiring tools are good at the first hire and weak at the second. The history of the work ends up in emails and invoices, so rehiring someone good means starting again. Small and mid-sized teams, founders and managers who hire talent often, and independent professionals who want repeat clients, needed one place to keep that relationship.
My role
What I owned
Product Owner & Developer. Discovery, the product flow, the backlog and the scope decisions, including what Hirely deliberately does not try to be.
Approach
How it was built
Built around one idea: the second project should start where the first one ended. Clients search by skill, rate, availability and location, and save people to Favorites. Or they post a request and compare quotes. An accepted request becomes an engagement that keeps payments, milestones and reviews together. Money moves through a wallet: funds are held and released when the client approves the work, in full or by milestone. Teams get role-based access (administrators, managers, coordinators), two-factor sign-in and a log of signed-in devices.
Status
Where it stands
Live to look around, and not finished. Card payments are not live yet, so payments in the app are simulated and labelled as simulated. Mobile apps are coming soon. The terms and privacy policy are still drafts.
Positioning
Why it is not like my free tools
TaskCue, Circles Finance and Medical Claims are free tools I built for my own use. Hirely is different: a paid marketplace build with plans (Free, Basic and Premium) and a commission on payments to talent. See the Hirely pricing page for current numbers.
Stack
Built with
React and TypeScript on the front end, with a Node.js backend and MySQL.
